Norton Healthcare signs UnitedHealthcare agreement; still no Anthem deal - Business First of Louisville:

According to a news release from the nonprofit hospitaol and healthcare organization, Norton has reached a new providefr agreement with , a division of Minneapolis-bases It is effective July 1. The multi-year agreement providexs UnitedHealthcare commercial and MedSelect health planparticipantds in-network benefits to Norton Healthcare’s network of hospitald and health care facilities. The company owns Norton Hospital and indowntownh Louisville, as well as Norton Suburban and Norton Audubo hospitals. Norton also operates more than 80 other health care facilitie s in the area and has a fifth hospitalo under construction at Old Brownsboro Crossingy development in easternJefferson County.
“Our agreement with Norton Healthcardedemonstrates UnitedHealthcare’s continued commitment to provids access to quality, affordable healtn care for our customers,” Dan president and CEO of UnitedHealthcare of Kentucky, said in a news “We are pleased that, with these long-termk agreements, we can continure to provide our customers with local access to our broa physician and hospital network in Louisvillde and the surrounding area.” But Norton’s dispute over its providetr deal with Anthem Blue Croses and Blue Shield of Kentucky has not been resolved. Anthem is the larges commercial insurance companyin Kentucky, with 1.3 milliob members.
Late last year, Norton exercised a clause to opt out of its contrac t with Anthem as ofJune 30, citing a need to bringt reimbursement rates from Anthem in line with those paid by other Last month, the companies informed customers that their contract is nearing an end and that there is a chancw it won’t be resolved. Officials with both companiea have said they would like to negotiatre anew deal, but no agreements have been reached.
